Sulfone Solutions for Food Trays, Plumbing, & Membranes
For more than a decade, Conventus Polymers has worked closely with Youju New Materials to bring high-performance sulfone resins to North America. As the exclusive distributor in the U.S. and Canada and an authorized distributor in Mexico, Conventus supplies manufacturers with technically sound alternatives for food trays, plumbing parts, and membrane systems. These are applications where heat, pressure, and chemical exposure are part of the daily environment. Read on to explore how this partnership delivers reliable, real-world solutions.
Built on Partnership, Backed by Performance
Conventus began distributing Youju’s sulfone products in 2013. What started with polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) and polysulfone (PSU) quickly grew to include polyethersulfone (PES), giving customers access to a full family of materials with distinct performance profiles.
Youju’s resins are manufactured in ISO 9001:2001-certified facilities in China and Singapore; these facilities are recognized for their quality, consistency, and regulatory compliance. Conventus complements that global reach with local technical support and deep market knowledge across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
“For more than a decade, we have had a longstanding partnership with Youju,” said John Jorgensen III, Founder and President of Conventus Polymers. “Our collaboration has played a critical role in the development and advancement of high-performance applications across multiple end markets. From fluid engineering systems and advanced membrane technologies to food service solutions, our joint efforts have led to significant technical achievements and commercial successes. Youju’s deep expertise in polymer materials and consistent product reliability have enabled us to push the boundaries of application development and deliver differentiated solutions to our customers worldwide.”
Spotlight on Paryls® Sulfones
Each Paryls® resin is engineered to meet a specific set of performance needs, whether it’s surviving hundreds of sterilization cycles or maintaining mechanical strength in hot, wet environments..
Paryls® PPSU
Known for its impact resistance and long-term heat performance, PPSU is a preferred material for reusable food trays, sterilization containers, and fluid contact parts. It’s inherently flame retardant, BPA-free, and capable of withstanding more than 1,000 autoclave cycles without losing mechanical integrity.
Paryls® PSU
PSU is ideal for membrane housings, beverage system components, and bio-containment applications. It combines transparency with excellent hydrolytic stability and maintains its mechanical properties in continuous-use, high-temperature environments.
Paryls® PES
Offering the highest glass transition temperature of the three (230°C), PES stands up to extreme heat and pressure. It’s well-suited for industrial filtration elements, plumbing components, and parts that demand dimensional stability and chemical resistance.
Material selection often depends on more than just performance specs. Shrinkage rates, flow properties, and regulatory requirements all factor into the decision. Youju offers each sulfone grade in multiple viscosities to support different molding needs, and Conventus works closely with customers during development to recommend the right material for both the part and the process.
What Makes Youju Material Stand Out
When global shortages strained the sulfone market in 2015 and 2016, many OEMs began evaluating alternatives. Youju’s materials entered North America during this time and were quickly adopted due to consistent performance and favorable cost-to-value ratios.
Conventus and Youju continued to expand material availability and local technical support. Today, these resins are trusted across high-heat, high-cleanliness applications where failure isn’t an option.
Backed by a Global Network
Youju’s sulfone resins continue to gain traction in sectors that place extreme demands on materials:
- Food Service: PPSU supports reusable trays and kitchen components that require repeated sterilization, impact durability, and colorability.
- Plumbing: PSU and PES provide reliable performance in hot water environments, resisting hydrolysis and chemical degradation over time.
- Membranes & Filtration: Clean, high-strength polymers like PSU and PES are ideal for membrane housings, filter frames, and pressure-bearing components.
Manufacturers in these markets are under growing pressure to extend part life, reduce field failures, and meet evolving material safety standards. PPSU, PSU, and PES help address those challenges by offering thermal, chemical, and mechanical performance that holds up in the real world. The Conventus team works alongside engineers to evaluate geometry, processing needs, and end-use conditions before a single pound of resin is molded.
Your Sulfone Partner Across North America
Youju materials continue to make an impact in North America thanks to a partnership rooted in trust, technical alignment, and shared focus on market-specific needs. Conventus supports that growth with fast response times, local inventory, and a team that understands what it takes to turn materials into real-world solutions.
